Ceramic Wall Hanging ・ March 16

with Alani Caruso-Fitterer @lunes.essentials

3:30 - 6 PM

at Assembly Studio-- 325 21 St W, at Ave D

Fired pieces pickup: Friday, March 22nd, 6-8 PM

Looking for a stunning and unique piece for your wall? May we suggest a geometric ceramic piece you designed, glazed and embellished yourself? Participants will start by picking from an assortment of handmade ceramic shapes, planning out their wall hanging using Elements and Principles of Design in relation to clay. We’ve had so much fun playing around with these shapes already, and we know you will too!

The focus of this workshop is exploring ceramic glaze, with a variety of painting and mark-making techniques; a restrained glaze palette yields infinite possibilities. Participants will learn the ins and outs of glazing, with expert encouragement and guidance. You’ll also have the option to add fibre embellishments such as tassels to your piece.

After the workshop we will fire all the pieces, to be picked up on March 22nd. This second date is set up as a drop-in session; students are welcome to hang out and string together their final piece if their schedule allows.

This is a beginner workshop. All supplies provided.
